Eric Alston has his string in good form and can enjoy further success here with KING OF EDEN, who is taken to see off Sands Crooner and Cape Royal. The selection did well to just get his nose in front at Newcastle over a similar trip last time and he has been raised 6lbs for that. A lightly-raced gelding, you could argue that he is still unexposed despite defeats from higher marks when he was still learning about the game. Fast ground suits and we will side with him to progress enough to follow-up. Sands Crooner also relishes these conditions and was good enough to win from a higher mark than today's 11 months ago. He has run well on both his last two starts and should not be far away. Cape Royal has been a grand old servant to Milton Bradley and tends to pop up once or twice a year with a win. He races today from the same mark as his last two successes, and with the ground no problem he looks a danger. Ridley Didley is raised 6lbs for a course and distance win and has to be a threat, while Ripon winner Verinco looks hugely competitive with a 4lb rise and Top Bid, a 6f Hamilton winner on Sunday, tries to follow up under a penalty, and he can get involved again. A tough race to call and King Of Eden looks the one to be on.
