In depth

Verdict

ROTHESAY DANCER is the call in what isn't the best of contests; Bonnie Prince Blue can win the battle for second ahead of Solar Spirit and Lord Fidelio with these four making by far the most appeal. Jim Goldie's mare has won only once over this trip compared to nine times at five furlongs but with the ground lively there's little concern about her staying. Rated 77, she's favoured by these weights and will appreciate this step down into plating class, one that can see her home in front from a good draw. Bonnie Prince Blue may be the forecast value here despite having a bit to do at the weights. Dandy Nicholls' charge is a real six furlong specialist who went close in a fair handicap last time, in the process advertising his wellbeing. In contrast Solar Spirit has some questions to answer in that regard but he comes out second best at the weights, has the assistance of a talented claimer and gained his sole success over this distance so has to be considered. Completing the shortlist is Lord Fidelio, who like Bonnie Prince Blue has a bit to find but at least arrives in good heart. Ollie Pears' runner is less exposed than most too but he's yet to show he's quite the same force on turf as he is on the all-weather and for that reason we'll return to Rothesay Dancer.
