Verdict

AL MUFFRIH didn't make his debut until late October when he ran well in a Newmarket Novices' event. He's in the Dante and the Derby so needs to win here to justify the entries. Global Conqueror was narrowly beaten on ground with some give in his last two starts and he's also engaged at York. He'll ensure this is a proper test and it's difficult to see him out of the frame. Department Of War has no fancy entries despite costing 290,000gns and being a half-brother to the high-class Toormore and other smart winners. Fairlight is a half-brother to no less than nine winners while the E140,000 Mantovani is out of a mare who has produced winners with her first five offspring. Mazboon cost a whopping 400,000gns and is a half-brother to two winners in Italy.
