Verdict

NORTHSIDE PRINCE looks sure to go close to giving his trainer back to back successes in this contest with Rowan Lodge and Avitus amongst those that can contest the minor berths. The selection has not been seen out since finishing second in a Southwell handicap in May but he bumped into a progressive rival on the fibresand that day who has won twice since yet Northside Prince races from a 1lb lower mark. He caught the eye at this track at the beginning of last season and can belatedly open his account with his yard going well. Holiday Cocktail landed this prize two years ago and is back down to a decent mark but he hasn't really shown enough to merit nomination. Rowan Lodge has been knocking on the door whilst Avitus ran on well to land the money in a maiden handicap over course and distance and hasn't been harshly dealt with by the handicapper. The well handicapped Sea Land showed signs of returning to form last time and would have to be feared, particularly if the market were to speak in his favour but we reckon that Northside Prince will be crowned the winner.
