Verdict

Only two of the last 10 favourites have succeeded in this decent conditions contest, but with a plumb draw and placed Group 3 form in the locker it will be a sizeable surprise if anything can prevent CHOOSE WISELY from improving the record of the market leaders. With at least 10lb in hand on his five opponents compared to if this were a handicap and conditions to suit he is a very confident selection. However, he is not going to be much of a price and those looking for an alternative or perhaps forecast material could do worse than Hortensia. Mick Channon's filly has won both a maiden and most recently a Hamilton claimer over six furlongs. The drop back to the minimum trip leaves her a bit to prove, though first-time headgear might help her in that, and she is one of the better treated at the weights, excepting our pick. Musselburgh winner Crimson Knot will have to show more in this company, while Mappin Time is respected returning to this shorter trip and on ideal ground.
