    Verdict

COMPTON'S ELEVEN is in good form and he can get his head in front at the main expense of Bateleur and Catalan Bay. Mick Channon sends both Compton's Eleven and Bateleur to post here and our selection can gain compensation for a narrow defeat at Ayr last time when he was beaten by Kargan. The drop in trip will not be a problem and with conditions to suit he looks to hold solid claims. Bateleur showed a good attitude to beat Espy at Bath last time out but he was all-out to score that day and the race has not worked out particularly well. Jeremy Gask has been in decent form and Catalan Bay was only narrowly beaten by Mango Music at Haydock last time. This is only her fifth run in Britain but she had shown some decent form previously in Australia and she should be capable of getting competitive, although she looks as though she will be suited by a longer trip. Stamford Blue has got course and distance winning form and he wasn't beaten far at Chepstow earlier in the month so he is another with claims, but for the winner we will stick with Compton's Eleven.
