Verdict

Small Fortune is the one to be on in the finale, with Noojoom, Sam Lord, Beverly Hill Billy, and runners from the yards of Mick Channon, David Elsworth and Alan King all making things interesting. Small Fortune has not been rushed by Roger Charlton, and the patient policy paid dividends when she reappeared to justify favouritism at Nottingham three weeks ago. She holds an entry in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot, but is put straight into handicap company, so it may well be that she is not as good as initially hoped. However, she should be good enough to follow up, with improvement to come over this slightly longer trip. Noojoom opened her account on the Lingfield Polytrack in January, and also has plenty of improvement to come, while Sam Lord has to shoulder topweight which is off-putting. Beverly Hill Billy is not guaranteed to stay more than a mile on breeding but has plenty of experience to call on. Zefooha returns to the fray, and the market may reveal which of David Elsworth's pair is preferred. Small Fortune may be a potential blot on the handicap though off a mark of 76, and should make a bold bid to follow up.
