In depth

Verdict

The three that stand out in this field, in order of preference, are Candela Bay, Presto Levanter and Milldown Bay. Willie Haggas could win a race with the stable cat such is the form of his string at present and he should be able to mark up another notch on the tally stick after this contest. The selection won a firm ground Pontefract maiden well on debut and was strongly fancied to follow up in a nursery on good to soft as a result but failed to give her running and was then put away. She proved that she retains her ability when finishing one place behind Presto Levanter at Windsor and is fancied to reverse the form with that run under her belt and a swing in the weights in her favour. She was receiving 3lbs from Orange Pip that day and the winner had previously finished three quarters of a length in front of Milldown Bay off levels in a course and distance maiden. That represented a significant improvement in form from Rod Millman's filly and she has to be of keen interest on her handicap bow. Presto Levanter finally took advantage of her declining handicap mark at Leicester and is still feasibly treated; that win may have done wonders for her confidence and she's not one to rule out lightly. There are four or five others in the field with each-way claims and this has the potential to be a fairly competitive heat but we advise you to see the light and support Candela Bay.
