Verdict

Starkie was having his 20th start over fences when gaining his second victory at Plumpton last week for which he's penalised 7lb. He's probably well in here as that success was gained very easily so he is an obvious threat to all. Unzing won at Market Rasen on Boxing Day but is now 8lb higher thanks to a narrow defeat over this track and trip a month later. DOUBLE TREASURE looked as though a first victory was imminent when runner-up at Huntingdon but failed to cope with the extra half-mile at Bangor after travelling well to today's trip. He's given the nod as Paul Nicholls' Contre Tous has shown nothing in two starts since arriving from France. Ypsilanti scored very easily over fences at Doncaster in January but failed to take advantage of a much lower mark over hurdles at Towcester a few days later. The heavy ground was put forward as the reason but he's now 16lb higher than that victory on Town Moor. Ifandbutwhynot hasn't won for over two years but is on his lowest ever mark as a consequence.
