In depth

Verdict

GENERAL ALEXANDER, runner-up over 7f at Doncaster in October, reappeared over the same track and trip on Sunday and looked a certain winner when clear at the furlong pole. He was eventually overhauled near the line by Philadelphia so today's trip looks ideal and he can go one better. Geno finished runner-up in three of his first four starts before finding Redcar's Two-Year-Old Trophy too tough. He doesn't mind the ground and should win races this campaign but Run Rio Run's best effort was on very fast ground at Newcastle and he didn't do so well on softer going. Bromley Cross has pulled hard on his two runs at Wolverhampton but stayed on nicely in the latest of them and with the experience under his belt should make his presence felt.
