In depth

Verdict

Any number line up with claims but we'll focus our attention on Ice Planet (selected), My Gacho and River Thames. River Thames paid the price for a successful juvenile season but recaptured his form last season and has done well enough in two runs this term to be considered. Both outings came over five furlongs but he's a better horse over six and should go well although would ideally prefer there to be more cut in the ground despite having a quick ground win to his name. My Gacho is an even better handicapped individual as he's a remarkable 10lbs lower than when winning over this course and distance in May of 2007 and is still 3lbs lower than when winning this race in 2006. He has had just two starts since leaving David Barron, came right back to form last time and has plenty in his favour. We're going to overlook him though and go in search of a bigger dividend; we settled upon Ice Planet. Three of his four career successes have come in the month of June; the most recent being last year from a 6lb higher mark than his current rating. He's won at the track, looks to be running into some form and is likely to be a bigger price than My Gacho. Bel Cantor and Mr Wolf are worthy of mention but we'll let avarice get the better of us and select Ice Planet.
