Verdict

A big field and an open contest to boot, with DREAM EXPRESS earning the tentative vote ahead of One Scoop Or Two, while 2008 winner Emperor's Well has slipped to a decent mark. Mick Easterby's veteran has enjoyed all but one of his career wins from higher marks than today's 49, and after taking this two years back he was found out 12 months ago. He goes well on fast ground and should be capable of going very well, although he has never won first time out. One Scoop Or Two went well enough in defeat at Warwick last time and the winner of that has come out again already and given the form a solid look, so you couldn't rule out Reg Hollinshead's runner off the same mark. Needy McCredie appeared to outperform her 25/1 tag when third in a Catterick seller but has gone up 7lbs for that run. Stepped back up to a mile and with that outing under her belt she is interesting if handling conditions. Mississippian remains on the same mark as when a six-length second to the in-form Polish World at Ripon and with that runner having won again since it still looks reasonably good form in the context of this race, so with a good draw he is very much respected. Suor Angelica would be very interesting if backed, but she has to prove it over the trip and on this ground for her in-form yard, though we are siding with Dream Express. David Thompson's five-year-old still has it to prove over this far, having previously only won over six and seven furlongs. Even so, he is on a very attractive mark now, relishes quick ground, and pedigree suggests that he should stay. Me might be able to do so now being a bit older and Paul Hanagan can switch him off and bring him on the scene late to score.
