    Verdict

The handicapper looks to have made it very difficult for either Invincible Lad or Sir Geoffrey to win this, and the race should rest between the other quartet, with LUCKY ART selected. Ruth Carr's four-year-old has enjoyed both of his career wins over course and distance and went well from a mark 3lbs higher than today's when racing here last month. He can race prominently, which would be an advantage in trying to get over to the favoured nearside rail and we will side with him. Mey Blossom was the ready scorer in a similar contest here last time but an 8lb hike in the weights means that she needs to produce her best effort for a couple of seasons to follow-up and the percentages are to oppose this time. Secret Venue has a squeak with the yard going well and racing from a mark 2lbs lower than last year's fast ground Nottingham success. A strict interpretation of his defeat of our pick in May leaves Mullglen with improvement to find to repeat the feat and Lucky Art can take the last. Jonathan Doidge.
