Verdict

Some familiar faces line up here and we have to give a chance to old favourites like Bay Island and Happy Hussar, however it may pay to side with a less exposed type in Would You Believe, with Shrove Tuesday also expected to go well. Would You Believe is trained by the in form Phillip Hobbs and comes here on the back of a course and distance success over Lord Broadway. With more improvement in the offing he looks the best option this afternoon. Irish challenger Shrove Tuesday has a similar profile having also won here last time. Any further rain would certainly aid his cause. Happy Hussar is no spring chicken but proved he could still land a race having chased home Inca Trail last time at Sandown. Bay Island is a model of consistency and ran another solid race last week when third to Hever Road, you could do a lot worse than this one for an each-way selection. All in all a very competitive race but Would You Believe has more scope for improvement than most of these and this one gets the decision.
