A poor contest can go the way of Mabel Riley, with Eyes To The Right, Kingscourt Lad and Nuzzle others in with a chance. With some inconsistent types in opposition here, the form of Mabel Riley gives her a leading chance of gaining only a second career victory. Her sole success came in a seller on the Flat for Brian Meehan at Southwell three years ago, and she has been hard to place since. However, she has given every indication on each of her last three outings at this level over timber, including here the time before last, that her turn is near. Eyes To The Right was a place behind the selection when they met at Worcester last time, and on today's terms will do well to turn the form around, while Kingscourt Lad, successful in a bumper here two years ago, was pulled up at Southwell last month and needs to improve dramatically to beat the selection. Nuzzle plugged on at the one-pace at Hexham a fortnight ago and has slightly less to do, but all in all, it is Mabel Riley that holds the best claims of all in a race that will take little winning.
