In depth

Verdict

A distinctly motley band of dodgepots and infrequent winners line up for this race and WATCH OUT is the token selection ahead of Dan Buoy and Quasimodo. The selection missed an engagement earlier in the week and as a previous winner at this course, that could be a recommendation in itself. Admittedly he is not particularly well in versus a handicap though the BHA figures of a number of these rivals appear hopeful at best. Dan Buoy has won in much better grade than this. The eyeshields and blinkers combination are tried again this afternoon. Quasimodo showed some promise for Tony Carroll and will be making his first foray into the grade so the market must be watched accordingly. Hernando Cortes and Villochely have to be respected on account of the trainer. The former has completely lost his way while the latter was arguably caught a little flat footed by a tearaway leader last weekend. Scutch Mill had his moments for Pat Haslam though his BHA rating seems a little optimistic. Northern Blaze failed to build upon promise in bumpers. Bret Maverick is a regular loser in sellers and today should prove no exception. Not a race to ponder over for too long and Watch Out is nominated.
