In depth

Verdict

Franklin Roosevelt remains less than fluent over fences so did well to get his neck in front at Plumpton in May. ROYAL CHATELIER is more reliable and went close to landing a hat-trick when finding only Dimpsy Time too good over these fences on his final start of last season. He gets the nod given Always Bold has yet to win a chase in 12 attempts though he went frustratingly close at Uttoxeter recently. Jayandbee scored at Newton Abbot in August but an 8lb rise proved beyond him back at the same track while Redlynch Rock and Quayside Court were both beaten out of sight despite making the frame on their latest starts.
