In depth

Verdict

Hellbent, On The Trail and Frenchmans Lodge are all shortlisted in this competitive event and the vote is given to the last mentioned. The selection was a fair fifth behind Pulse at Lingfield last time but it was his previous effort over this course and distance which could be the key to finding the winner of this race. He was travelling ominously well when he fell in a race won by Hellbent. Tony Carroll's runner has got an obvious chance here once again today but we think Frenchmans Lodge would have had the measure of him that day if he had not fallen and on that basis we are putting him forward as the one to beat. On The Trail was disappointing on the turf at Pontefract last time over 6f but he is better over this trip and he has got form on this surface so he may be capable of taking some place money. Henry Tun was a little disappointing last time but is certainly capable of getting competitive in these type of events, while Ronny From Donny will probably find the minimum trip a little on the sharp side for him. However, for the winner we return to Frenchmans Lodge.
