Verdict

A competitive field goes to post for this handicap and the principals appear to be Tempsford, Haile Selassie and Mezereon and we will take a chance on Tempsford. The Sir Mark Prescott trained colt showed only a modicum of ability over seven furlongs last season. However he is sure to appreciate the step up to 12 furlongs ands he could have been let in on a lenient mark. Haile Selassie rates the main danger he won well at Windsor when defeating Giuliani before disappointing last time on very fast ground. If he acts on the surface he will not be far away. Mezereon is also worthy of consideration he won a claimer at the course last time out when defeating Tapio Prince and although this race looks tougher at least we know he acts on the surface. Of the remainder Special Branch has shown a modicum of ability and is another that looks well weighted but we are happy to stick with Tempsford
