In depth

Verdict

A decent looking maiden for the track and the narrow vote goes to Bullet Man ahead of Austintatious and newcomers James Dean, Mission Control and Pearl Dealer. The last-named is an interesting prospect and looks to be starting off at the right trip; the market will speak volumes about whether he is expected to score on debut, along with the other newcomers. Austintatious shaped with plenty of promise on his debut and shapes as if this extra furlong will suit, comments that also apply to David Barron's Jaconet. Spic 'n' Span should go better now returned to seven furlongs, whilst General Ting will need to step up massively from his debut if he is to trouble the judge. Dr Livingstone improved from his first to second outings and looks to be going the right way, however it is Bullet Man who receives the vote. Luca Cumani's horses are very rarely fully wound up first time up but he still ran a cracker when a runner-up at Lingfield. Expect improvement today and we, in turn, expect a win.
