Ronan O'Gara is taking up a coaching role with Super Rugby champions the Crusaders in the New Year having been released from his contract with Racing 92.
The former Ireland fly-half joined Racing as an assistant coach in July 2013 and his deal in Paris had been due to run until 2019.
O'Gara joined Racing after retiring from playing and his time in French club rugby coincided with Racing's Top 14 triumph in 2016.
He will work alongside head coach Scott Roberston in Christchurch.
Crusaders beat the Lions to win a first Super Rugby title in nine years in August, and the new Super Rugby season begins in February.
Racing are currently sixth in the Top 14 table, having won five of their nine matches.
Their two Champions Cup matches have comprised a victory over Leicester Tigers and a defeat by Munster, Corkman O'Gara's former club.
