The rumours won't go away and the controversial plan is again the subject of debate in rugby circles. Previously, it had been understood that a group of influential club owners had raised the idea of pulling up the drawbridge in a bid to protect clubs and secure long-term future investment.

The Offload teases out the argument for and against the plan.

Meanwhile, the Australian cricket controversy has brought the issue of cheating in sport into sharp focus yet again and stirred memories of the notorious 'Bloodgate' incident at Harlequins in 2009.
