Wales are sweating on an injury to fly-half Dan Biggar just a fortnight before their opening Six Nations game against Scotland.

Biggar left the pitch six minutes from the end of Ospreys' 24-7 Champions Cup defeat against Clermont with his right shoulder in a sling.

It comes after fellow fly-half Rhys Priestland was ruled out of the majority of the Six Nations with a hamstring injury and adds to a growing list of absentees from Warren Gatland's side.

Sam Warburton and Jonathan Davies, both stars of the British and Irish Lions' tour of New Zealand last summer, will miss the entire tournament, while No 8 Taulupe Faletau looks set to be unavailable for the first three matches against Scotland, England and Ireland.

Playmaker Biggar, who has won 60 caps for Wales, described his injury as "not too bad" shortly after going off.

Nonetheless, it is a headache that Gatland could do without having named his 39-man squad on Tuesday.

Gloucester's Owen Williams, Scarlets back Rhys Patchell and Cardiff Blues' Gareth Anscombe could all step into the starting line-up should Biggar miss out, but all are inexperienced options in comparison to the Ospreys' fly-half.

Biggar is expected to join up with the national squad on Monday where he'll likely be assessed by the team's medical staff.
