France have suffered a double blow ahead of their Six Nations game with Wales after wingers Teddy Thomas and Marvin O'Connor were injured playing in the Top 14.
Castres wing David Smith and Stade Francais full-back Djibril Camara - both uncapped - were called up to replace them in France coach Guy Noves's Six Nations squad.
But it later emerged that New Zealand-born Smith is ineligible to play for Les Bleus, having previously represented the All Blacks in a Rugby Sevens match in 2008.
He will now leave the camp on Monday - France are yet to name his replacement.
Thomas, who featured in Les Bleus' 10-9 victory over Ireland in their last match in the tournament, suffered a recurrence of a hamstring problem playing for Racing 92 in their 39-35 victory over Grenoble on Saturday.
The injury looks set to rule Thomas out for the rest of the Six Nations, with the news confirmed by Racing coach Laurent Labit.
"His hamstring has gone again," he said.
"He felt a dagger in his thigh. With all the efforts he's put in, he was coming back well. Unfortunately he will be out for a few weeks.
"It will be difficult for him to get back into the French squad (before the end of the Championship)."
Noves will also be without O'Connor after he injured his knee during Montpellier's 19-16 loss to Pau.
The uncapped 24-year-old is expected to be out for between four and six weeks.
Virimi Vakatawa and Hugo Bonneval look set to be the wingers for the game against Wales on Friday evening.
