Saracens ace facing nine months out after second ACL operation
Young Saracens fly-half Sam Stanley has been rocked by news he faces another lengthy spell out after suffering a second serious knee injury.
The 20-year-old had only just returned to action after he snapped the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee while on loan at Barking.
But Stanley, the nephew of All Black legend Joe Stanley, has now had a second reconstruction surgery.
Stanley wrote on
Twitter: "Unbelievably gutted that I've actually had another ACL reconstruction."
Stanley had initially gone in for a precautionary MRI scan after kicking 16 points in the second team win on Monday night.
However having first thought he would need keyhole surgery to repair the cartilage, Stanley has ended up needing major surgery to repair the knee.
Stanley now faces up to nine months in rehabilitation as he looks to fight his way back to full fitness once again.
