Australia back Christian Lealiifano is determined to make a return to top-flight rugby after revealing his leukaemia has gone into remission.

The 29-year-old had a bone marrow transplant late last year and revealed on Sunday that it had been a success.

Lealiifano, who has so far won 19 caps for the Wallabies, has set his sights on a return with the Brumbies in Super Rugby, although he admits he would see it as a "extra bonus" after his cancer diagnosis last August.

"The bone marrow transplant was a big success," Lealiifano said.

"The blood cells in my body are now 100 per cent my sister's blood cells, so in theory that should show that I'm in remission.

"I'm taking it day by day, and if I get a chance to run around with the team again, that's an extra bonus.
