Glasgow Warriors have signed fly-half Hagen Schulte on a one-year partnership contract after a successful trial spell.

The 23-year-old spent three weeks at Scotstoun last season but has made the step up to join the Guiness PRO12 outfit on a full-time basis.

He will also be eligible to play for Glasgow Hawks in the BT Premiership when he is not selected for the Warriors.

Schulte was brought up in Christchurch in New Zealand but qualifies for Scotland through his grandmother.

He joins hooker Corey Flynn, winger Leonardo Sarto and scrum-half Nemia Kenatale, while props Jarrod Firth and Djustice Sears-Duru, along with fly-half Rory Clegg have already arrived ahead of the new campaign.

"We're delighted that he has accepted the opportunity to join us on a full-time basis," Warriors head coach Gregor Townsend told the club's official website.

"He was top points scorer in the Canterbury club competition last season and he has real variety in his kicking game."

Schulte played against Warriors fly-half Finn Russell when he was over in New Zealand in 2013, and has been living with teammate Rory Clegg.

"Following my trial last season, all has worked out and I'm delighted to sign for Glasgow Warriors," he said.

"I try and pride myself on a running and kicking game. Coming over here and training couldn't be more exciting."
