West Indies need another 297 runs to win their series with Pakistan after wickets tumbled on an exciting fourth day of the third Test in Dominica.
With the series level at 1-1, the hosts will resume on 7-1 when play begins on Sunday, having lost Kieran Powell to the final ball of the day.
Saturday's play also featured the final Test innings of the Pakistan greats Younus Khan (35) and captain Misbah-ul -Haq (2), who both fell to spinner Devendra Bishoo.
The first three days of the match had been quiet and West Indies began day four on 218-5 in their first innings, replying to 376.
But Pakistan seized control of the Test during the morning session, Mohammad Abbas (5-46) taking four of five wickets to fall for just 29 runs, as the West Indies were dismissed for 247.
However, the tourists struggled to build on their first-innings lead of 129 as they slipped to 90-7, with retiring veterans Khan and Misbah both failing to make significant scores in their final knocks.
Younis, who earlier took a Pakistan-record 10th catch in the series, and Misbah fell in quick succession to Devandra Bishoo (2-54) and left the field to a guard of honour from their team-mates.
Opening bowlers Alzarri Joseph (3-53) and Shannon Gabriel (2-24) were also among the wickets for the West Indies as they looked to get back into the match.
But Mohammad Amir (27) and Yasir Shah, who hit a career-best 38 not out, frustrated the hosts with a 61-run eighth-wicket stand, to allow Pakistan to declare on 174 for eight and heap the pressure on the Windies.
Pakistan then landed a blow right at the end of an absorbing day when Powell was caught at silly point off leg-spinner Yasir.
