Ronnie O'Sullivan is aiming to add a Seniors world crown to his Crucible collection of seven World Championship titles

Ronnie O'Sullivan moved into the semi-finals on his debut at the World Seniors Snooker Championship in Sheffield.

After cruising past former world champion Ken Doherty 4-1 to reach the last eight, O'Sullivan returned to the table on Friday evening at the Crucible to beat Peter Lines 4-2.

The seven-time world champion opted to return to the famous venue a week and a half after his second-round loss to John Higgins and showed strong form.

He trailed Lines 2-1 but responded with a century break and did not look back, dominating the last three frames to set up a last-four clash with Robert Milkins on Saturday afternoon.

Earlier, O'Sullivan dominated his first Crucible clash with Doherty.

The Irishman managed to avoid a whitewash after he claimed the fourth frame in front of a bumper crowd before O'Sullivan signed off with a break of 93.

"Yeah, it was all right," said O'Sullivan afterwards.

"I feel comfortable at the table but snooker's not great, making some silly mistakes but I'll take feeling good and where I am at the moment to where I have been."

The other semi-final will pit Craig Steadman against Joe Perry.
