The promising GB athlete is only focusing on athletics this year

British teenager Adam Gemili has put his football career on hold to concentrate on Olympic glory with team GB. The 18-year-old was with Chelsea and Reading earlier in his career but is currently on the books of Dagenham & Redbridge. However, the rising sprint star, who will compete for Team GB in the 100 metres in London, told Sky Sports: "This year I have dedicated it to athletics from January, so this year I am going to go for athletics. "Obviously making the Olympic team and becoming the quickest man in the country, second in Europe, it does become a big factor. It does help you decide which one to do. "It will be harder now if I ever choose to, for any reason, walk away from athletics, and make that decision but I don't think so. I'm just focusing on this year and see how it goes and see where it takes me." Having been selected for the Team GB squad for the home Games this summer, Gemili will be one to keep a close eye on in the Olympic Stadium in a few weeks' time.
