Williams takes 41st career title with Acapulco triumph

US top seed Venus Williams demolished defending champion Flavia Pennetta in the women's final of the Acapulco Open on Saturday. Williams took little over an hour to claim her second title in as many weeks with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over the Italian second seed. It was a sixth consecutive appearance in the final of this event for Pennetta, who also won in 2005 and was runner-up in 2004, 2006 and 2007. But the 27-year-old has not won a title since taking the sixth of her career in the Mexican red clay tournament last year. For seven-time Grand Slam winner Williams it was a 10th victory in a row and her 20th in 21 starts. The Wimbeldon champion followed up last week's win in Dubai by breaking a three-match losing streak against Pennetta to take the 37,000-dollar top prize and level up their career record at 3-3.
