Jamie McDonnell is delighted to get the chance to "right his wrongs" against Liborio Solis and prove he is the best bantamweight in the world.

The WBA world champion McDonnell will take on his challenger in an immediate rematch at Salle des Étoiles, Monte Carlo, on November 4, live on Sky Sports.

McDonnell won a contentious points decision when they met at the same venue and even if the return will be a full 51 weeks on, the Doncaster star can't wait.

"I am going to put it right and get everyone's respect back," he told Sky Sports.

"I believe I won the fight quite comfortably, by three or four rounds, but I know where I went wrong. I was coasting through the fight but this time, from the first bell, I will be going flat out.

"I am going to force this win. I was on it, I was fit and ready but I think I under-estimated him and took him lightly and you can't do that in this game. You learn from your mistakes.

"I am 100 per cent on it this time. I want to make a statement and show I am the best bantamweight in the world.

Trainer David Coldwell is happy to see the long-standing world champion move up to super-bantamweight once he's taken on Solis again.

"I have proved it before but the last one took a little bit of a shine of what I have achieved."

Solis, a former super-flyweight world champion, immediately lobbied the WBA for an instant return following the decision that went against him, 112-116 113-115 111-117.

The governing body instead tried to unify their two world titles by pairing McDonnell with their then-Super champion, America's Rau'shee Warren.

Live Fight Night

Warren withdrew and a fight with Paul Butler was discussed, only for the Ellesmere Port bantamweight to take on old rival Stuart Hall on Saturday, finally enabling McDonnell to erase his own disappointing memories.

"It was a year ago, but I can remember being on the ropes a lot, slipping his shots, but not doing much back and I regret that," he said.

Jamie McDonnell said he felt in control for the whole fight in his unanimous decision win against Liborio Solis to retain his WBA bantamweight title

"Physically Solis was quite strong, he kept at a good pace, swinging right hands a lot, but it was nothing I can't deal with comfortably.

"I think I can look good in the rematch, convincingly beat him and I hope, even stop him."
