Butler vs Hall: George Groves backs former foe David Brophy to take Rocky Fielding's British title away

David Brophy (black trunks) celebrates his victory over Jamie Ambler (black and White trunks).

George Groves is tipping former foe David Brophy to spring a surprise and take Rocky Fielding's British super-middleweight title away.

Brophy puts his own Commonwealth title on the line in a domestic scrap at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports.

The Scotsman was stopped by Groves in four rounds last April but bounced back by travelling to Australia to take the Commonwealth strap away from Zac Dunn, 11 months later, in March.

Groves then used him as a sparring partner as he finally won a world title at 168lbs and the WBA boss believes the success Down Under could see him beat Fielding in his backyard.

"I give him a strong chance," Groves told Sky Sports.

"When he fought me he was probably 'up for a fight' but since then he's gone and won the Commonwealth championship in Australia and he's gained not just a load of experience, but a whole lot of confidence and self-belief - which I am not sure I have always seen in Rocky Fielding.

"Brophy came down and did some sparring and had a little chat with him - this was after he'd won the Commonwealth - and he seemed on-point, on-form and in a really good place.
