Paul Collingwood feels England's successful World Twenty 20 campaign is a result of skipper Eoin Morgan's commitment to long-term planning.
England crushed New Zealand by seven wickets with 17 balls to spare on Wednesday to reach the final of the tournament.
The match was not a particularly glorious one for Morgan on a personal level as he recorded his second golden duck of the tournament.
But Collingwood, who is part of England coach Trevor Bayliss' backroom staff in India, believes the role the captain has played in England's transformation since their poor World Cup a year ago should not be underestimated.
"I think there was belief from the start because of the way the guys have been playing white-ball cricket for the whole year," he said.
"It's been very exciting to watch and Eoin Morgan has been instrumental in driving his team to the position it's in now.
"He's been fantastic in terms of his approach in terms of getting the team to play the way he wants them to play.
"This hasn't come overnight, it was a year ago that he really got hold of the reins of the captaincy and started directing the team in the way he wanted it to go."
