We guide you through the World Cup venues for this year's tournament, in this part focusing on Australia.
ADELAIDE OVAL (Adelaide)
Capacity: 31,000
Guide to the Ground: A fan favourite. Although some recent re-development has slightly robbed it of its charm, the Adelaide Oval remains one of the most picturesque venues in cricket. The ground is a true oval, so don’t expect too many straight sixes down the ground.

Highest individual ODI total: 156 (Brian Lara, WEST INDIES v Pakistan, Feb 2005)

THE GABBA (Brisbane)

Guide to the Ground: Australia have quite a good Test record at the ground, having not lost at the venue for 24 matches, a record dating back to 1988. But they have their poorest ODI record at the ground (bar The WACA) out of all the home World Cup venues.

MELBOURNE CRICKET GROUND (Melbourne)

It played host to the 1956 Summer Olympics and 2006 Commonwealth Games among countless other finals and events, including the final of the 1992 Cricket World Cup. A fitting venue for this year’s final.

THE WACA (Perth)
Capacity: 24,000
Guide to the Ground: Regarded as one of the quickest and bounciest surfaces in world cricket, you fear what damage Mitchell Johnson and co could do to Afghanistan in their group game. The future of the stadium is about as safe as their batting line-up – without a Test match this winter for the first time in nearly 40 years and under threat from a new 60,000 stadium planned to open in 2018 in the city.
