Windies' top order collapsed to 9-5 as they lost a rain-affected third ODI to New Zealand by 66 runs on the DLS method.

The Black Caps posed 131-4 in 23 overs with rain leading to a near five-hour break in proceedings and leaving Windies chasing a revised target of 166.

The game in Christchurch effectively became a T20 fixture but reigning World Twenty20 champions Windies struggled as Chris Gayle (4) went in the first over and Shai Hope (2) holed out in the second.

Kyle Hope (1) fell lbw in the third and Trent Boult then bowled Jason Mohammed (1) and Chadwick Walton (0) in the fourth - Jason Holder (34) and Rovman Powell (11) put on 48 but the latter's departure made it 58-6.

Nikita Miller was unbeaten on 20, but the tourists ran out of overs, finishing their chase on 99-9 - Mitchell Santner bagging 3-15 with his left-arm spin and seamer Boult (3-18)

Ross Taylor top scored for New Zealand with 47 not out, while Tom Latham struck 37 as New Zealand secured a 3-0 series victory.
