England are not favourites, says Michael Atherton, but Joe Root could lead them to victory in Adelaide if he plays 'one of the innings of his life'

Having braved the pace of Pat Cummins and spin of Nathan Lyon under the lights on day four, Joe Root could lead England to victory in Adelaide if he plays “the innings of his life".

So says Michael Atherton in his latest Ashes video blog as he reflects on England closing the penultimate day of the day-night Test on 176-4 - and 178 runs away from what would be a stunning comeback victory.

DAY FOUR REPORT | SCORECARD

Root (67no) is at the crease with Chris Woakes, who helped James Anderson (5-43) skittle Australia for 138 in their second innings earlier in the day by bagging 4-36 from his 16 overs.

Athers dissects England's bowling, Australia's "casual" batting, Steve Smith's decision not to enforce the follow-on and some Barmy Army banter in the video at the top of the page!
