Leicestershire chief executive Wasim Khan and former England internationals Vikram Solanki and Min Patel head the judging panel for this year’s Asian Cricket Awards.

The trio are part of a 10-strong panel of judges which include former Woman in Cricket winner Salma Bi, journalist and broadcaster Simon Hughes, and Baroness Sayeeda Warsi.

The 2016 ceremony is on September 23 and will take place at the Kia Oval for the first time, after being held at Lord's Cricket Ground for the last two years.

The awards recognise the contribution of British Asians at all levels of the game from grassroots through to the elite level, including volunteers and those that have made a significant contribution in administrative roles.

England and Worcestershire all-rounder Moeen Ali has won the main award for the last two years and is an ambassador for the 2016 event.

"I'm honoured and privileged to be a part of the Asian Cricket Awards as an ambassador," Ali said. "I was fortunate enough to win the player award for the previous two years and am glad that I have helped in a small way to showcase the event.

Moeen Ali told Michael Atherton that he felt like he owed the team some runs after his 155no on the second day of the second Test against Sri Lanka.

"I am very proud of my heritage and honoured to be representing England. The British-Asian talent pool is immense and I really hope to see more players make it through to the top level. An event such as this really helps to give Asians that platform they deserve."
