Monks, bishops, bananas, Trumps, brides - you name it - gathered on mass by the advertising hoardings to demand the return of their special sphere, temporarily taken away and placed by an official's chair.
The good-humoured bunch bayed for the steward to return their football, drawing the attention of several England players in the field - including Joe Root - from the ongoing Test.
When they got their wish, the crowd erupted in raucous delight with Alastair Cook among those enjoying a famous victory for the fans.
