A Colin de Grandhomme delivery damaged Ben Stokes' unbranded willow in the third ODI in Wellington!

Ben Stokes had his bat broken during the third ODI between England and New Zealand at the Westpac Stadium - by a pretty unlikely culprit!

Black Caps medium-pacer Colin de Grandhomme was the man in question, benefiting from an up-and-down pitch at Wellington to first hit the splice of Stokes' bat and then chip the end off it!

De Grandhomme bowled economically throughout England's innings, going for just 24 runs from his 10 overs and bagging the wicket of Joe Root (20) to boot, as the tourists scored 234 all out.

Stokes, meanwhile, played an unusually sedate knock on the difficult surface, hitting just two boundaries in his 73-ball 39, his first coming from the 60th delivery he faced.

New Zealand were looking on course to claim victory as captain Kane Williamson and Mitchell Santner shared a 96-run seventh-wicket partnership to leave the Kiwis requiring 36 off 30 balls in Wellington.

However, England all-rounder Chris Woakes turned the match on its head as he tipped a shot from Williamson on to the non-striker's stumps to run out the unfortunate Santner for 41.
