Watch how Ben Stokes failed - in vain - to hide from Alastair Cook

Injured all-rounder Ben Stokes risked the wrath of England team-mate Alastair Cook by trying to hide behind the sightscreen during day one of the second Test.

Stokes, sidelined by a hamstring tear, brought play to a shuddering halt when he popped up behind the sightscreen in the fifth over of England's first innings.

Cook, on strike at the time on 10 not out, was not amused as his team-mate attempted to hide behind the sightscreen before popping up a second time in the batsman's eyeline.

After exchanging a few hand signals with the opener, Stokes sought the quickest exit possible - hurrying to the door leading to the dressing rooms.

When play resumed, Cook almost became a cropper as Mohammad Amir beat the outside edge without getting the telling nick.

"I reckon that bat might have gone across the dressing room had Cook nicked that one," said Sir Ian Botham.

Remarkably, Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur and bowling coach Azhar Mahmood were caught out loitering in the same area behind the screen a few overs later before scurrying for cover.
