Stephen Mangongo has been sacked as Zimbabwe head coach, just eight weeks before the start of the Cricket World Cup.
Mangongo, who has been shifted to a role with the Zimbabwe Under-19s, led his side to a famous win against Australia in a one-day international in August but it was the team's sole victory during his five months at the helm.
Zimbabwe's disastrous tour of Bangladesh, which saw them lose the one-day series 5-0 and the Test series 3-0, proved to be the final straw for Zimbabwe Cricket.
A replacement is set to be appointed after Christmas following a formal interview process.
"Givemore Makoni will remain as convenor of selectors, but will have a wider panel to select the team with," read a statement from Zimbabwe Cricket.
"The selection panel will include Douglas Hondo as assistant/bowling coach, Babu Meman, the coach, and the captain."
Zimbabwe are in Pool B with South Africa, India, Pakistan, West Indies, Ireland and United Arab Emirates for the World Cup, which gets under way on February 14 next year.
