Lydia Greenway says England must move on from their one-day series defeat to Australia as they prepare for the one and only Ashes Test at Canterbury.

Despite winning the opening ODI by four wickets at Taunton, England conceded the series to trail Australia 4-2 on points with one Test and three T20 matches remaining.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, left-handed batsman Greenway said: “The ODI’s weren’t the scores that we wanted but we’ve got to move on from that now and we know that we need to play some really good cricket, so obviously that’s what we’ll be working towards.

“We’re keen to get going and trying to get some more points on the board.

“We’ve played a lot over the years and Australia have as well, so hopefully we can draw from that experience and adapt our skills to the situation.

“We’re just going to be working really hard to get every point that we can.”

The winner in Canterbury will be awarded four points giving England the opportunity to move ahead in the series, and Greenway said the hosts must remain positive.

She added: “We need ten points and Australia need eight points but for us it’s just about taking it day by day, session by session and just doing what we can.

“When we play the way that we can we have a good chance of putting ourselves in a good position in this Test match.”

England’s men regained the Ashes with a stunning innings and 78 run-victory at Trent Bridge on Saturday, and Greenway claimed the manner of their win will help inspire her side when play begins on Tuesday.

“We were all watching it and listening to it on the radio on the way down yesterday," Greenway said. "The guys went in being he underdogs so to come out the way that they did and play some of the cricket that they did is hugely inspiring for us.”
