Batsman leaves Durham after seven years

Scotland batsman Kyle Coetzer has made his loan move from Durham to Northamptonshire a permanent one. The 27-year-old, who has been on loan at the County Ground for the past month, has signed a two-year contract with Northants after spending nearly seven seasons at the Riverside. Northants know that the Scotland international can be a devastating batsman after he smashed 122 from 109 balls, including two sixes and 14 fours, against them during a Clydesdale Bank 40 group match in July. His innings helped Scotland to a 12-run win, and Northants head coach David Capel lauded Coetzer's all-round ability. "We have witnessed at firsthand what Kyle can do with the bat for and against us," he said. "He's a good fielder too and his work ethic is at a high level. I think Kyle will prove to be a very good addition." Coetzer added: "I have been made to feel very welcome and I hope together we can push forward during this new phase of my career, and help Northants achieve their ambitions."
