James Anderson suffered an injury scare after limping off during Lancashire's defeat to Hampshire in the Royal London One-Day Cup semi-finals following a knock to the knee.

The England seamer was hit by a drive from Hampshire's James Fuller at The Ageas Bowl on Sunday and immediately dropped to the floor in pain.

Anderson was attended to by Lancashire's medical staff but hobbled off the field shortly before Hampshire completed a four-wicket win, although his county are confident the 36-year-old has suffered only bruising.

Lancashire head coach Glen Chapple said: "It is a difficult area - as soon as there is any swelling in there it will restrict your movement and limit your strength. I imagine it will be painful for a few days."

Anderson took six wickets in six games for Lancashire in their run to the last four in the One-Day Cup with a best of 3-21 against Warwickshire.

Anderson also claimed six wickets in the match as Lancashire began their Specsavers County Championship Division Two campaign with a seven-wicket victory over Middlesex at Lord's in April.
