Kevin Pietersen has said he has played his last professional match in England in the aftermath of Surrey's demise in the T20 Blast.
The 37-year-old re-signed for Surrey for this year's renewal but made just two appearances because of a troublesome calf problem, the last of which came against Middlesex on July 21.
He told social media: "Surrey's loss last night means the end of career in England. What an amazing journey. Thank you, Notts, Hants, Surrey, ECB & supporters!"
Pietersen will continue to play T20 cricket overseas as well as continuing his involvement in various charitable works, including a campaign to save the rhino.
Surrey lost by six wickets to Birmingham Bears on Friday evening to end their T20 hopes.
