Leg-spinner Nathan Sowter and all-rounder Martin Andersson have signed new contracts with Middlesex.

Sowter made five appearances for the county in the NatWest T20 Blast last summer and has signed a white ball contract for 2016 which will make him available for that competition and the Royal London One-Day Cup.

The 23-year-old's Middlesex debut was one to remember as he bowled only four deliveries in a win over Kent and took 2-2 as the Spitfires were bowled out for only 90.

Managing director Angus Fraser said: "Nathan was given a taste of the NatWest T20 Blast in 2015 and showed glimpses of what he has to offer before suffering an injury.

"He produced many good performances in the 2nd XI, displays that helped them have a successful season.

"In limited-overs cricket captains want options and Nathan's leg-spin will complement the orthodox right and left-arm spin of Ollie Rayner and Ravi Patel. His contract with us is for limited overs cricket but he is available to play the longer form if required."

Andersson, 19, is yet to make his senior debut but played a number of games for the second XI and has signed a summer contract to allow him to continue his studies.

Fraser added: "Martin is another talented cricketer from our Academy. He is currently studying at Leeds University and the contract will work around his educational and University commitments.

"All-rounders are hard to come by and in Martin and George Scott, who will also play for Leeds/Bradford MCCU, we have two exciting young players of this type."
