Long-serving coaches Ben Smith and Lloyd Tennant will leave Leicestershire in a widespread restructuring of the county's backroom staff.

Smith and Tennant have been with the county for 45 years combined, having been part of the coaching set-up since ending their playing careers at Grace Road.

Coach Andrew McDonald sees his role re-badged as elite performance director, and he will head a five-man team that includes Charlie Shreck, who will combine his playing duties with a new role as bowling development coach.

Former Warwickshire wicketkeeper Keith Piper will become elite development coach after joining Leicestershire's staff in July.

Pierre de Bruyn takes on the role of second XI and assistant skills coach and former Hampshire 'keeper Nic Pothas has been named academy director.

Leicestershire and Rutland Cricket chief executive Wasim Khan MBE said: "We are delighted to be bringing in three high-quality people to be working alongside elite performance director Andrew McDonald.

"Keith Piper, Pierre de Bruyn and Nic Pothas all shone through in the interview process and will bring a variety of key attributes to their positions. It is also great that Charlie has accepted some additional responsibilities as Bowling Development Coach as he had a big influence on our attack last season alongside Clint McKay.
