Opening batsman inks new deal at Grace Road

Leicestershire's 6ft 10in opener Will Jefferson has signed a new two-year contract. Confirmation that Jefferson will stay came just three days after another batsman, Jacques du Toit, committed his future to the club. Jefferson, in his first season at Leicestershire after joining from Nottinghamshire, scored 598 LV County Championship runs at an average of 33.22 before an Achilles injury ended his first-team campaign in July. "Despite the injury that plagued the second half of my season, I fully believe I am about to embark on the most exciting, enjoyable and productive years of my career," said Jefferson. "I look forward to being at the forefront on the club's future success, while mounting a claim to achieve my burning ambition of higher honours again."
