Northants have secured the services of fast bowler Luke Evans on the same day he was released from Durham.

Northamptonshire have secured the services of fast bowler Luke Evans on the same day he was released from his contract at Durham.
Due to the lack of first-team opportunities, Evans left the north east a year early in order to take up potential opportunities with other clubs.
And the move paid immediate dividends as Northants stepped in to offer the six foot, seven inch, 23-year-old a two-year deal.
The 23-year-old is a product of the Durham Academy and made his first-class debut against Sri Lanka A in 2007 and was offered a professional contract in 2008.

On his departure from Durham, Evans said: "Obviously I'm sad to be leaving the club where I've grown up and developed as a player, but if I'm going to continue to progress I need to be playing regular first-class cricket and I'm currently considering options where there may be more opportunities.
"I would like to thank all the coaching and playing staff for their help and advice over the years and of course, to the Durham members who always showed their support. To everyone, on and off the field, I offer the best of wishes for the future."
Northants head coach David Capel said: "I am delighted to be signing Luke as he is a young, tall fast bowler with enormous potential."
